Programme Note

The Renaissance Choir is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2026. This is one of a series of special concerts. The repertoire includes examples of the choir’s development over its life.

We will be performing Poulenc’s Gloria, accompanied by Karen Kingsley, alongside unaccompanied works on the theme of reflection, salvation and joy from the 16th through to the 21st century. You can experience MacMillan’s Miserere, plus works by Byrd and Bach.

The programme of delights comes from the award-winning Renaissance Choir, regarded by many as the amateur choir’s version of The Sixteen. The concert will make good use of the gorgeous acoustic of Boxgrove Priory Church.
