A Man for all Seasons

Part of the Malcolm Arnold Festival 2026

Add to my Calendar 24-10-2026 11:00 24-10-2026 13:00 36 Malcolm Arnold’s Violin Concerto world premiere and other orchestral works Julian Lloyd Webber launches a day of live performances of Arnold’s music for strings, wind and brass from 11am at Cripps Hall in the composer’s hometown of Northampton, to include the Cello Fantasy played by Jiaxin Cheng Lloyd Webber. Guest artists include the Northampton Symphony Orchestra. In this concert, highlights include a World Premiere performance of Malcolm Arnold’s unfinished Violin Concerto orchestrated, by Jonathan Whiting, from the composer’s detailed sketches of 1991, and performed by rising star Elif Cansever, who’s playing was so rapturously received at last year’s festival. Containing the enduring Arnold-ian wit and melodic mastery, this will be the first time this fascinating insight into late Arnold is brought to life. Enjoy access to all the daytime concerts by purchasing a low cost day pass, with the evening concert priced separately. Tickets are available from the website or on the door. You can also find full details of all the concerts on Classical Events.   The festival continues with a live-stream on Sunday 1st November presenting a programme themed around Arnold's music of 1956 and a discovery of his piano repertoire.
