From sweeping orchestral scores to instantly recognisable themes, this programme celebrates the artistry, emotion and storytelling power of video game music across generations of players. The first half journeys through some of the most celebrated contemporary game soundtracks, including music from God of War Ragnarök, Ratchet & Clank, Horizon: Call of the Mountain, Starfield, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Star Citizen. These works showcase the scale and cinematic ambition of modern game scoring, where full symphonic writing meets immersive interactive storytelling. The second half pays tribute to iconic themes from gaming history. From the nostalgia of Super Mario Bros., Tetris and Dragon Quest XI, to the emotional depth of Minecraft, Halo, Medal of Honor and Civilization IV’s Baba Yetu, the programme traces the evolution of video game music into one of the most dynamic and widely loved genres of the 21st century. Highlights include powerful orchestral arrangements such as Adagio for Strings from Homeworld and the symphonic finale from Asura’s Wrath.
