British pianist Ophelia Gordon makes a landmark appearance at Ronnie Scott’s, presenting a bold and boundary-breaking recital rooted in her acclaimed debut album Kapustin: Between the Lines, alongside early previews of works from her forthcoming second recording project.

 

Ophelia Gordon’s artistry inhabits the space “between the lines” of musical convention - where classical precision meets the rhythmic vitality of jazz. Her playing has earned glowing praise from critics: “Her ‘Manteca’ Paraphrase exudes a panache of which Dizzy Gillespie would surely have approved” noted GRAMOPHONE, while BBC Music Magazine wrote, “She really knows how to make Kapustin’s melodic lines and rhythms swing”.
