Programme Note

Enjoy a stunning performance of Gabriel Fauré’s ethereal and uplifting setting of Requiem Op.48 in the evocative candlelit setting of St Mary Le Strand, James Gibbs’ baroque masterpiece and arguably the most beautiful of the Queen Anne Churches. Faure’s setting is paired with Herbert Howells' powerful and intensely personal, unaccompanied Requiem – written in 1932 but not published until 1980.

The performance will last about 65 minutes, without interval, giving concert-goers time to have dinner after the performance.

The L’Inviti Singers is a chamber choir comprising singers handpicked from the UK's major churches and cathedrals (St Paul's, Westminster Abbey etc) and internationally renowned chamber groups (The Sixteen, Tenebrae etc).
